Dokken Engineering is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer to support project managers through the entire design process (from proposal through PS&E and construction support) for small to large transportation projects throughout California. The ideal candidate has been responsible for at least one project that he/she personally designed and supported through construction.

Primary Responsibilties:

  • Execute engineering tasks for the planning, design and construction of transportation projects
  • Perform/produce detailed geometric designs, design calculations, technical reports, and PS&E for transportation facilities
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines, utility companies, subconsultants, and clients involved in projects
  • Perform quality control for projects
  • Mentor less experienced staff
  • Support marketing efforts

Requirements:

  • BS degree in engineering
  • California PE
  • 5 to 10 years of transportation project experience after graduation
  • Success in the delivery of completed (100%) PS&E packages for transportation projects.
  • Understanding of multidisciplinary team coordination, compilation of design and construction documents, and local agency and Caltrans design standards and practices
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and transportation design software including at least one of the following Civil 3D, MicroStation, or CAiCE
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Commitment to delivering quality work products and superior service to clients

Project Manager

Under limited supervision of the Regional Manager, this candidate will perform project management of transportation design services including marketing, operations and technical oversight.

Essential Functions:

    This position requires the possession of a valid registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California, 8+ years of experience and a proven track record of winning and delivering transportation projects.

  • 1. Responsible for Client Management and Business Development. Lead the development and preparation of proposals.
  • 2. Provide management of staff, assist in staff training and mentoring.
  • 3. Review project financials and prepare progress reports; ensure completion of work in accordance with contract provisions and perform other related contract administration duties.
  • 4. Responsible for leading the planning and design effort of transportation-related projects, including preliminary engineering studies, development of plans, specifications and estimate (PS&E), and construction administration. Candidate must have demonstrated experience using the Caltrans Project Development Procedures Manual and Regional Local Agency Design Standards.
